The world-reknowned Mayo Clinic, the not-for-profit academic medical center based in Rochester, Minn., is warning parents of the dangers associated with installing children in one sport on a year-round basis.
By playing one sport 12 months a year, growing children are far more susceptible to injury. Following the same routine over and over again causes unnatural pressure on a developing body and can lead to overuse injuries and muscle imbalances.
